In this talk entitled The Future of Painting, Rhythm & Hues artist Nick Pugh presents the emerging trend of painting from life with computers and iPads in this TEDxSoCal Event.
In this talk Pugh exposes the novel art form – Digital Plein Air – as a vital new style where artists take technology out into the field and capture the world around them in beautiful digital paintings. The talk provides historical context for this new movement, shows the state of the art today, and provides a vision for how this style might evolve in the future.
The talk features the work of several artists using this technology, including David Hockney, Craig Mullins, David Newman, Shaddy Safadi, Alison Yerxa and Danny Gardner, amongst many others.
